Logistics: so hot right now. The Austin tech scene has welcomed a myriad of companies set out on making the supply chain run more smoothly, many of which have made a huge splash in recent months. Here’s a few that we will be watching.

Building off of the capabilities of walkie talkies, Zello has brought the simplicity of Push-to-Talk technology to phones. The company provides an app that enables workers to customize Push-to-Talk communication for various situations, allowing for messages between individuals and entire teams. Shipwell launched in 2017 to make freight shipping easier and more transparent for companies of any size by bringing the whole booking and deployment process online. In October, Shipwell landed $10 million in funding to scale its operations to take on larger clients and expanded routes. In November, the company demoed a new AI tool to help with workflow automation at MarketWaves18.

Launched in 2014, Arrive Logistics has grown at a rapid pace with its freight trucking brokerage platform and network. By June of last year, following a $10 million Series A, the company had 450 employees split between its Austin headquarters and Chicago office. Now, Arrive Logistics has more than 700 employees throughout three locations across the
country, including the recently-opened Chattanooga, TN, office. It also reported revenue increases from $30 million in 2014 to $143.5 million in 2017, to $370 million in 2018.

Before Amazon Prime’s “same day delivery” even became a thing, Austin’s Dropoff was knee deep into offering same-day courier services for businesses. In the last quarter of 2018, the company began service in San Francisco, Seattle and Oklahoma City, bringing the company’s total markets to 21 cities. Dropoff also added some big C-levels to its executive team, with the hiring of Neil Seth as CTO and Rey Madolora as CFO in December.

As online merchants of all sizes continue to multiply, ShipStation has launched to mitigate their shipping woes. The company, founded in 2011, provides online sellers with a shipping platform that processes everything from creation of shipping labels to shipping updates communication. Headquartered in Austin, the company has grown to over 200 employees and continues to add more roles.

Field professionals gained the ability to locate their freight shipments at any given time when Zengistics launched in 2015. In just a couple of years, the Austin startup increased its team from four employees to about 100. Its platform includes 24/7 personalized customer care as well as state-of-the-art technology built by legit rocket scientists.

A seasoned logistics tech company, E2open launched in 2000 to connect customers, channels, suppliers, manufacturers and partners over a single platform. The company develops supply chain machine learning software that interprets real-time data and responds to demand and supply constraints. Last fall, the company made headlines for acquiring INTTRA, an ocean shipping network.

Following a $10 million funding raised over the summer to enter the B2B sector, Convey reported that its post-sale delivery platform resolves 22,000 delivery exceptions every single day. Per the company, that’s a rate four times faster than the industry standard. Launched in 2013, Convey has built up a client portfolio that includes four of the world’s top 10 retailers.
